Your wellness is our priority. Alivation’s medication management includes the use of prescription medication to help control symptoms of behavioral health problems. Patients who frequently experience severe depression, anxiety, mood swings, ADHD and other mental health problems can find relief by using medication. Your doctor will get your full medical history and potentially initiate DNA testing to ensure the correct medication and help avoid the risk of side effects. If you are prescribed medication, your doctor will typically schedule a follow-up appointment in two to four weeks.

When a person experiences acute problems in life, medication can help. When the situation resolves itself, the patient will discontinue using medication. But sometimes, patients have a chronic condition where using medication on an ongoing basis greatly improves their quality of life.

Psychotherapy helps treat mental and emotional disorders and is designed to encourage communication during conflict and improve insight into problems. The overall goal is to change behavior, relieve symptoms and improve social and vocational functioning as well as personality growth.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a treatment breakthrough used to help treat depression. TMS is a noninvasive technique where brief magnetic pulses are gently applied to the brain to stimulate nerve cells. Learn more about TMS and its benefits by visiting our TMS page.

Ketamine is fast-acting medication created in the 1960’s with several applications. It is currently being used as a treatment option for those suffering from treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Those who suffer from depression have a lower amount of BDNF factor, a protein related to depression, in their brain. Ketamine increases the synthesis of this protein, producing higher levels and more consistent levels in the brain. Ketamine also improves the functioning of one’s neuronal network, making it more effective and efficient. This correlates to improved mood, energy, motivation, concentration, along with lower anxiety.

Evaluating how your body metabolizes and processes doses of medication, known as pharmacogenetic evaluation, helps identify the correct medicine for you. This personalized approach allows our team to find the best and most effective medication or combination of medications by simply swabbing your cheek. Test results reveal if there is a potential for drug interactions or side effects based on your genetics in addition to showing how your body metabolizes a specific drug so your doctor can calculate the safest, most effective medication for you.
